YOU WILL NEVER FALL
A Promise
Dear Reader,
Thank you for being a reader of The Three Taverns. PASS IT ON TO SOMEONE ELSE!
I started this in March of 2024. I named the newsletter after a town the messenger Paul passed through on his way to Rome as a prisoner.
Not a comfy situation. He was going to face trial in the most powerful empire on earth before the most powerful leader on earth, to testify to his message “there is another King” and possibly lose his life.
On their way into Rome, the group of soldiers guarding him and taking him into the city decided to stop and rest in a town called Three Taverns. It was about 30 miles outside of Rome along the Appian Way. It was likely their last stop before arriving in Rome itself. (See Acts 28:15)
A group of believers, fellow Jesus-followers in Rome, took the journey to find him and take time to encourage him in Three Taverns. This was no convenient little trip! 30 miles on foot or donkey wasn’t simple or free. These believers would spend time, effort and money to make this journey. Yet they took the time out of their life to go encourage Paul in one of his toughest moments.
That is the purpose behind The Three Taverns. We all need encouragement along the way as we face tough battles in this life.
YOU WILL NEVER FALL
There is a promise in 2 Peter 1:10 that we need to PAY ATTENTION to!
It says, “Do these things, and you will never fall away.”
What things is God talking about that we should do?
Is there any question that deception is rising to tsunami levels in these days?
- UFO files will help continue the creation of a new religion centered around demons, angels, time travel, interdimensional beings and all the esoteric things humans are drawn to without surrender to God Himself.
- THE SCIENCE will continue to create pandemic fears and medical suicide. Folks, the CIA, NIH, FDA, etc. absolutely will create their next “pandemic”. The importing and creation of deadly pathogens, against the law, is to create a fear-based medical fraud to push more deadly “solutions” like vaccines that create disease.
- Politicians will continue to target the successful and wealthy with lies and continue to create a false immoral socialist “tax the rich” utopia. Ayn Rand called them the Looters- those who use law and force- and the moochers- those who use victimhood- to take wealth from the producers.
- Islam’s false religion will continue its rise through violence and through collusion with weak western politicians and media personalities with the ultimate goal of implementing global sharia law.
All of this and more are the growing “powerful delusion” spoken of in II Thessalonians 2 will continue to capture minds that are not built up in the word of God and who have not developed a Christ-centered worldview.
The promise in 2 Peter says that if you add to your faith:
- goodness: moral character, as our priority over mental knowledge
- knowledge: biblical knowledge through study is now important following the commitment to moral transformation
- self-control: demons cannot infect a person who is filled with the Spirit of self-control
- perseverance: people looking for excuses to leave the community of God, to get angry at God Himself, or angry at the “hypocrites” in pulpits will never develop godly perseverance, but it is a key for overcomers who conquer this world
- godliness: uprightness in all relationships that glorifies God
- brotherly kindness: gentle toward all because all are facing great battles
- love: extending the love of God to lead others into the fellowship of Christ
Let me repeat: The promise says if you ADD THESE THINGS you will never fall away.
God isn’t saying we will not stumble. He is not saying we will never suffer. He is not saying we will never walk through unanswered questions, raw emotions, or outright confusion. We might fall flat on our face and feel like we are fighting for our very survival. Some things happen that seem so bad that we can feel like we can’t even breathe! But if you continue calling upon the Name of the LORD you will never fall beyond recovery.
The body of Christ is so important in this journey. Other people who know our battles, who will fight with and for us, are critical to our perseverance and to being able to hold up the shield of faith for our family.
Let’s pursue this promise.
CHRIST IN CULLEOKA
Our study of Romans has landed us into a deeper look into spiritual gifts.
Romans 12 moves from “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” into the spiritual gifts that are planted by God within the church.
So this week we dug a little further into the reasons for these gifts and then how to begin fanning the gifts into flames and grow into this freedom. This is an exceptionally fun topic because we begin to see each other in new light when we know how we function together in the church!
Watch and be fired up! ROMANS 12: THE GIFTED CHURCH- Fan Into Flames Your Spiritual Gifts
Sweetwater Church isn’t fancy. We are growing, hungry, learning to love and fellowship, and taking a no-compromise look at the word of God. Come jump in and discover what Christ is building in His church with us if you are looking for a home!
We meet at 11:30AM in a rented space in the Glendale United Methodist building, 1423 Culleoka Hwy.
TAVERN TALKS TUESDAYS
May 12- Gregg Tipton- Gregg is one of the co-owners of Mission Cigar in Franklin. He is a man on a mission to share Jesus with as many as he can. Gregg has overcome personal loss and kept his focus on what God called him to do. We look forward to hearing some of his story.
May 19- Willie Horton- we all know and love him! This is round two for Willie.
We meet at 7am on Tuesday mornings at The Mission Cigar & Social in Spring Hill. Tavern Talks is about our stories and God’s story. It’s not about perfect people with perfect stories but authentic working out this salvation in our lives.
Thanks to the Mission owners Mark, Monte and Willie for making this possible and participating in these gatherings.
Looking Up! (Luke 21:28)
Tod Bell
