Dear Reader,
Thank you for being a reader of The Three Taverns.
Those of you who have been reading from the start know where the name The Three Taverns comes from. But newer readers may not know.
The great messenger Paul of Tarsus stopped in the Three Taverns (Acts 28:15) on his way along the Appian Way into Rome. He was preparing to face up to Caesar, declaring there is a greater King.
The Three Taverns was close to, but not in, Rome, just as we believers are in but not of the world. There Paul the Messenger was met by believers who heard he was on the way to Rome.
A tavern can be full of story, noise, laughter, shouting, songs, food and drink, warmth, fellowship, hospitality, encouragement, gratitude, complaining, camaraderie, love and enmity. A tavern is a lot of things. But this day, in this tavern, there was a man of the ages.
At the time I am sure no one realized the historical significance of this man Paul. But he was preparing for a "showdown" with the powers of this world and God's Message, just like Jesus prepared Himself in the garden prior to standing before the Roman Procurator Pilate, making His confession, and taking on the sins of the world on the cross at Golgotha. (I Timothy 6:13)
We all need the encouragement of like-minded people around us as we also face the pressures of this age, the static of all the noise and confusion. That’s what The Three Taverns newsletter is designed to be.
And by the way, did you notice the logo for The Three Taverns was three T’s formed in the shape of a tavern house? I did that with my skinny finger on my phone!
LISTEN TO MICAH!
“Attention! Let all the people of the world listen!
Let the earth and everything in it hear.” (Micah 1:2)
I love how so many of the prophets spoke not only to their audience within reach, but they actually called on the mountains, the valleys, the trees and rocks, the seas, and all of creation to HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD!
Have you read the book of Micah lately? Wow!
I've been reading it in the New Living Translation. I have read it now three days in a row. I tend to read a book all the way through (if it's short enough) the same number of times as chapters it has. I've found by reading the whole thing through rather than a few verses at a time I tend to get the sweep of the message better.
I challenge you to read Micah through a few times. I believe it will speak to you. Of course it is rooted in history and speaks to his day, but it is also timeless. There are prophecies pertaining to his current situation; there are prophecies pertaining to the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) and are quoted in the New Covenant writings; there are last days prophecies pertaining to now.
From all of it, whether past or present in any prophetic literature, I learn of God's character. From that I can know that His words, even if directly related to thousands of years ago, are still timeless in how He feels and speaks today.
Let me know what you think after you read through Micah.
TAVERN TALKS TUESDAY
So many of you have mentioned how encouraging this gathering has been! I'm so thankful for our time together at The Mission Cigar & Social each Tuesday morning, 7am.
We have been talking about the absolute crucial need to hear God’s voice in these days. Pay attention, open your heart, expect Him to guide you, listen for yourself, your work, your family. Know the written word and the spoken word, they will always correspond to each other, and God will often enlighten you on the meaning of a passage of scripture in a whole new way.
I’ll be sharing more on this subject Tuesday morning.
Bring your coffee, your Bible, Febreze if you go to the office after, an open mind and open heart. You can purchase a cigar as well to enjoy your first cigar of the day.
We are really grateful to Mark, Monte and Willie for opening up The Mission early each Tuesday and participating in Tavern Talks!
SHAMELESS PLUG: YOUR MONEY IN THE BANK!
Think about this phrase: “Your money in the bank.”
Let’s dissect that statement.
1. IT’S NOT YOURS. In the case of bank insolvency, the bank can use ANYTHING you have there to "save" the bank, even if it's in a safety deposit box.
2. IT’S NOT MONEY. Dollars are not money, they are currency, legal tender, but not backed by anything. The dollar has lost over 97% of its spending power in just over 100 years.
3. IT’S NOT IN THE BANK. Dollars are turned digital and a small fraction of cash on deposit is kept in any bank.
And to top it all off it's losing value. Inflation is eating up every dollar, which has lost 97%+ of it’s spending power since 1914. But also the bank can lend up to 100x the amount you deposit, meaning now every dollar deposited is worth less.
Only gold, silver and precious metals in your hands are money.
If you are listening to anyone talking about securing your wealth, they are URGING you to take action and obtain gold and silver.
We have a COMMUNITY of members getting access to gold and silver at 10-20% less than anyone else on the planet.
World-famous investor Peter Schiff says this about gold and the dollar:
“We’re going to have so much inflation that the dollar is going to lose a lot of value, and you’re really going to need a lot of dollars to buy gold. If gold can go from $20 an ounce to $2,600 an ounce, it can go from $2,600 to $26,000, or even to $100,000. There’s no limit because, again, gold isn’t changing—it’s the value of the dollar that’s decreasing.”
Please pay attention to what he is saying...if you are counting on the dollar and dollar savings and investments you will be a big loser.
That also means your IRA gold holdings...if you are buying gold through your advisor or broker, you are paying 10-20% too much! Not a good way to use your retirement dollars!
We have the best product on the planet-- gold and silver-- at the best prices on the planet.
