I’m glad you are a subscriber to The Three Taverns.
We are living in strange times. We must stay connected to people we know and not get caught up in the technological games going on around us.
How do you know what to believe? Any video can be completely manipulated. Any text or email can be hacked. Any electronic data or dollars can be stolen.
That’s why we need to constantly connect with people, in the flesh, in person, and be honest, transparent, authentic. We need each other.
Especially in a day when people and institutions we trust are betraying and disappointing us.
THE DISAPPEARED
The term “disappeared” or “desaparecidos” refers to thousands of people who were kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by the Argentine military dictatorship during the period known as the “Dirty War” from 1976 to 1983.
These were people betrayed by THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT.
The military junta that ruled Argentina during these years engaged in a systematic campaign of state terrorism against perceived political opponents, targeting a broad spectrum of people, including political activists, students, intellectuals, trade unionists, and even those loosely associated with left-wing ideologies.
And church leaders preaching the Kingdom of God.
One of my friends Ed Silvoso (That None Should Perish, Anointed for Business, Prayer Evangelism, etc.), whom I had the privilege of serving with, learning from, traveling the world with and being part of his global ministry for about 6 years, was almost one of the "disappeared."
Soldiers came to his house to collect him for "questioning." His wife and young daughters were there and answered the loud banging on the door. When Ruth told the soldiers he was not there they searched the house high and low. When they didn't find him they said they would come back later.
Ed returned later that night and was met by his frightened wife and children. He had been out doing what God had called him to do-- preaching the gospel to unsaved people. Doing the will of God saved Ed from being one of the "disappeared."
It is clear that America has been betrayed by our own government in many ways. Our money is stolen via inflation and taxes. It is used to support activities we would never approve of. Our current government has allowed open borders to lead to a massive influx of people who do not love what America stands for. It has allowed for massive trafficking of children as well as the growth of illicit drugs and growing strength of the cartels and criminal gangs. We have also learned this week that there are Iranian missiles that have come across the border and we don't know where they are.
There are many other ways we could list that this administration has put the U.S. in danger and on a destructive path. But the point I want to make is this one....Our call to follow Jesus Christ and make Him known is our protection. We cannot and must not get caught up in the fear of the rest of the world, the panic from those who do not know Jesus. We must not forget WHO we are and WHO'S we are. We do not belong to ourselves, we belong to our Savior. We win by the "word of our testimony and by not loving our lives, even unto death."
Let’s demonstrate this to our families and walk in this reality among our co-workers. There is a Kingdom higher than ours, greater than any earthly kingdom, more powerful than any terror at night. We "do not call everything conspiracy that they do nor live in dread of what they fear." Instead, we turn to the "word and to the testimony!" (Isaiah 8:12, 20).
Meditate on Psalm 11 and see what we are being taught, that in spite of the fears and uncertainties of this world and those who want to destroy us, those stringing their bows to shoot from the shadows, "the LORD is in His holy temple."
