Dear Reader,
Thank you for being a subscriber to The Three Taverns.
Emily and I just got back from Port St. Joe, Florida. It is part of the so-called “forgotten coast” of Florida and it was beautiful. We felt like we had a private beach all to ourselves!
We went with our oldest child Hudson and his wife Kate and their 5 kids. Had a blast! I’m rested and ready to rumble!
DON’T LEAVE THE FIELD TO THE DESTROYERS
I'm sick to death of politics, but we can't just leave the field to the Destroyers.
It takes a long time to build something of value. A child from birth to adulthood. A work of art. A beautiful piece of architecture. A career. A reputation.
It takes SECONDS to destroy it. Someone sees your beautiful daughter as a piece of trash to use and abuse then throw away leaving her scarred for life. Others see a masterpiece and throw paint on it in the museum to protest "big oil." Some torch a building to nonsensically protest racism. A career or reputation is ruined with one false accusation.
Builders bring life, Destroyers bring death. "The thief comes ONLY to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Prayer? MOST DEFINITELY. It is the greatest power on earth, to align with the UNLIMITED. No nuclear bomb can take away what prayer can establish...partnership with the Eternal.
But we also need logic, thinking, and engagement with truth as well.
I have been so surprised at how much truth people are willing to ignore while agreeing and working with the Destroyers. From believing the "novel virus" propaganda and ruining livelihoods, health, education, relationships; to actively arguing FOR open borders, protecting criminals and punishing innocents and citizens; to sacrificing babies to the gods of this age of selfishness and convenience; to shrugging over the waste of our hard-earned money and padding the pockets of politicians and globalist elites; to defending pedophiles shopping and shipping hundreds of thousands of kids all over the nation due to our open border policies; it makes the HEAD SPIN and the HEART HURT!
I read this article today and it is loaded with fantastic questions we should all be asking of our nation, ourselves, and our leaders.
VICTOR DAVIS-HANSON ASKS SOME GOOD QUESTIONS
CHRIST IN CULLEOKA
Emily and I love this small but growing group of believers at Sweetwater Church just 10 minutes south of Columbia.
We began pastoring here mid-March.
We have had so many friends come to visit us from
Nashville, Columbia, Spring Hill, Leipers Fork, Franklin, etc.
Some have decided to make this their regular fellowship.
I preach/teach the first three weeks of every month, then one of our younger men preaches the 4th Sunday. On 5th Sundays we encourage families to worship together at home.
This coming Sunday I will be teaching the way Jesus taught us to introduce people to Himself. Then moving into June I will teaching powerful truths from Ephesians.
As believers we do not live from Sunday to Sunday. Church is who we are 24/7; everything that we do in Sunday meetings can be done in every place we occupy on a daily basis. That is thrilling to see! We don't add Jesus to OUR life, he IS our life!
Every person is a minister, every home is a lighthouse, and Sweetwater is a safe harbor (Culleoka means "sweet water," so we are not just talking about our congregation but the city).
We meet at 11:30am in the Glendale Methodist church building at 1423 Culleoka Hwy, five minutes off of I-65 South. Great time to meet for a relaxed Sunday morning!
Some of you have been looking for a New Covenant group to walk with. We welcome you to walk with us.
TAVERN TALKS TUESDAY
I LOVE these guys!
Someone said recently, “Tuesday mornings saved my life.” I know what he means, he means the fellowship with other men honestly seeking a relationship with Jesus has helped him stay on the Path.
Others have said, “This is what church is meant to be.” Honest, open, vulnerable, God stories in the midst of our stories.
It has been encouraging to see how men commit to each other and fellowship in the Lord.
Tavern Talks is about our stories and God’s story. It’s not about perfect people with perfect stories but authentic working out this salvation in our lives.
Each Tuesday morning at 7am you will find two to three dozen men gathered to hear each other’s stories, to encourage one another, to teach scripture and pray together.
This gathering is at The Mission Cigar & Social in Spring Hill.
Bring your coffee, your Bible, Febreze if you go to the office after, an open mind and open heart. You can purchase a cigar as well to enjoy your first cigar of the day.
We are really grateful to Mark, Monte and Willie for opening up The Mission early each Tuesday and participating in Tavern Talks!
Looking Up! (Luke 21:28)
