Dear Reader,
Thank you for being a subscriber to The Three Taverns.
Thank you also for your reply emails and feedback when we see each other.
After the Super Bowl last night we enter what some of us affectionately call the “sports desert.” No more college football. No more pro football. Some people dig golf and basketball. But the only sports that halfway hold my attention is football. And to be honest, that “halfway” is accurate!
I read an article last week about President Trump’s schedule. To quote Buddy the Elf, it is “ginormous!”
Just to get a small glimpse into his day, take a quick glance at this article: SCHEDULE!
This is not a political post, but a reminder of this phrase: “If you have a ‘WHY’ you can put up with almost any “HOW.’”
This is a man who has been indicted, investigated, home-raided, impeached, slandered, falsely accused and shot. Still he rides on. He has a huge “why.”
This newsletter is named after a town where Paul stopped on his way to stand in front of Caesar. (Acts 28:15) A ruthless emperor with no love for Christians and Paul was going to stand in front of him in chains and testify that there is another and greater King than Caesar.
Paul’s “Why” was powerful enough that he could push through any “How.”
Embracing the call to enthrone Christ in our hearts so He can live His life through us sets us immediately at odds with the spirit of this age. That creates tension and difficulties automatically. But as scripture says, “Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.” (2 Cor. 2:14)
TAVERN TALKS TUESDAY
Each Tuesday morning at 7am you will find 25-40 men gathered to hear each others’ stories, to encourage one another, to teach scripture and pray together.
This gathering is at The Mission Cigar and Social in Spring Hill.
February 11- Charles Robinson tells his story. He is a friend of many in our group. Throughout his life, Charles Robinson has shared truths about his Choctaw Native American heritage to preserve the history of his culture. While visiting his wife's Blackfoot tribe in Alberta, Canada, Charles was gifted with the ceremonial name “Atsiniki”, meaning Storyteller.

February 18- Michael Snellenburg shares his story. Many of you know Michael as that tall South African who comes in regularly to enjoy the finest cigars. Michael is blind and needs to be led around the shop. He is a great friend to many of us and full of wisdom. We look forward to hearing from him.
Bring your coffee, your Bible, Febreze if you go to the office after, an open mind and open heart. You can purchase a cigar as well to enjoy your first cigar of the day.
We are really grateful to Mark, Monte and Willie for opening up The Mission early each Tuesday and participating in Tavern Talks!
SWEETWATER
I was invited to preach at Sweetwater Church in Culleoka, TN on January 26.
It was such a sweet fellowship of believers and they received the message with an awesome reception and wide-open hearts.
They have invited me back on February 16th. I would love to see you there! I had a bunch of friends who drove out to fellowship with us and it was encouraging to see everyone.
Sweetwater rents a small church building from Glendale Methodist Church so their meeting time is 11:30am, which is actually an awesome time to meet! You can sleep late, enjoy a leisurely Sunday morning at home, then come worship. And when you get to lunch the church crowd is gone!
They meet at 1423 Culleoka Hwy, Columbia, TN and your GPS will take you right there.
Until next time in The Three Taverns!
Looking Up! (Luke 21:28)
