Don't let life slip by

We are not a yuuuuuge list of readers yet, but growing weekly. And I am thankful for the comments and encouragements. Please pass this newsletter along to others if it is an encouraged to you.

Taverns are for fellowship, refreshment, talk, news, insight, and challenge. That is the purpose of this newsletter.

The Three Taverns is a town where the apostle Paul stopped on his way as a prisoner to stand in front of Nero and defend his call to announce another King, Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Risen Lord. That was a direct challenge to the powers of the age. Who we are as believers in this same King is an affront to the selfishness, greed and lusts of this present generation.

That’s why we need each other, to stay on task, to not drift (Heb. 2:1), to love and add courage in our daily lives.

SUNDAY FUNDAY

Every other Sunday is Sunday Funday at our house in Thompson’s Station, TN.

I told my wife Emily weeks ago I wanted to intentionally get our family together on a regular basis. Life is busy, the world is high tech and low touch these days, and time is flying by at mind-numbing speed. These are years that we can’t get back.

Of course, Emily shared this desire and facilitates an amazing day for everyone.

Sunday Funday is when Emily and I host our six kids, their six spouses, and our 16 (soon to be 17) grandkids at our house all day long. They arrive around noon and leave around 8pm.

We prepare the main meal for lunch, our kids brings sides, we set up a tent in the front yard, the grandkids play in the two creeks we have on the farm property, plus we set up slip and slide to cool off.

The families stay until after dark, feeding the grandkids one last time before loading up dirty and tired and heading home.

It is a fun day to keep reminding us that family is top of the list in this world, with Jesus as central to all we do. Don’t let life slip by, make a habit of connecting with those most important to you.

Tom Thompson is a friend of mine. He and his siblings, who live in different parts of the country, decided during the COVID craziness that they needed to connect weekly. So they set up a weekly Zoom call on Sunday afternoons. They never stopped doing it even now that the COVID panic is over. They all make this a hard date in their schedule and talk, share their lives and pray together.

Don’t let life keep slipping by without intentionally gathering your tribe around you on a regular basis.

“TAVERN TALKS” TUESDAYS

So many of you have mentioned how encouraging this gathering has been! I'm so thankful for our time together at The Mission Cigar & Social each Tuesday morning, 7am.

NEXT WEEK: John Spittle talks story. John is that great guy with the tattoos and black beard that exudes cool confidence. He tours currently with Trace Adkins as his drummer and has a long history in the music business. Come join us as we get to hear some of his journey of life and faith.

We realized this makes three guys in a row named John who have told their story: John Birdwell, John Spandella and now John Spittle! I will try to find some guys with a different name next time! But the blessing we have received from each one is amazing.

Bring your coffee, your Bible, Febreze if you go to the office after, an open mind and open heart. You can purchase a cigar as well to enjoy your first cigar of the day.

We are really grateful to Mark, Monte and Willie for opening up The Mission early each Tuesday and participating in Tavern Talks!

How not to panic?!

Pray. Stay in the word. Connect with others. And PLAN!

Why has gold hit SIX new highs since last November? Money printing. 1 trillion every 100 days. Paying for wars and rumors of wars is very expensive!

Your fiat money is being used to steal your wealth.

How?

First of all, the term "fiat" means it is government issued with no backing. It's only backing is government issued debt. So the dollar is now only a debt instrument.

So essentially, the dollar has value for two reasons:

1. Because the U.S. government says it does. Guess who's back that falls on? YOURS AND MINE.

2. Because investors and lenders around the world believe that the U.S. government will repay its debts.

So the dollar, as it is now, is destined to fail. And that failure, according to some very smart people, is coming like a freight train. If all of your savings is in dollars, then you are losing every day to wealth-stealers.

So how is the government system stealing your wealth?

Inflation, taxes and savings.

Inflation= money printing by the trillions makes every dollar you hold worth less. This is only done by government.
Taxes= the value of your labor is taken through taxes. Again, government.
Savings= fractional lending means the banks can loan out 10 times or more of the money you have on deposit, making each dollar you hold worth less. Banking system is government approved and FDIC insured, meaning again, this is government defrauding you of your wealth.

If you are not taking dollars and turning them into hard assets like gold, silver and precious metals, you are losing.

Renowned economist Peter Schiff has warned about the potential for a major financial crisis due to “run-away inflation” and a weakening U.S. dollar. Schiff also predicts a significant surge in gold prices.

Build your ark.
